Elephant Butte is a great spot for fun on the water and soaking in the beautiful desert views, Elephant Butte lake State Park is a short distance to the northeast of TorC.  Elephant Butte is the largest lake in New Mexico and is popular for water sports, boating, and fishing.  Other local lakes include Caballo Lake and Percha Dam State Parks just a few miles south of T or C. All three parks (Elephant Butte, Caballo Lake, and Percha Dam) provide opportunities for camping, boating, kayaking, tubing, fishing, picnicking, and even waterskiing.

Hot Springs are just 5 minutes from the Desert View Inn, there are several bathhouses that feature the mineral-enriched geothermal hot springs baths, both public community tubs and private soaking is available at several locations in the Historic Hot Springs District.

Art walks, shopping, relaxing in TorC's only theater, the 1933 El Cortez movie theater, on Main Street,

Truth or Consequences and Elephant Butte host the Annual Elephant Butte Balloon Regatta each September. This event features hot air balloons ascending at sunrise over Elephant Butte Lake State Park and glide over the beaches and lake,

Don't miss the Truth or Consequences Art Hop, held on the second Saturday of each month. Enjoy art, music, performances, food, and more in downtown T or C, and even when the Art Hop is not in session, the galleries and shops are a wonderful TorC treat.

The town also offers body work opportunities, art galleries, the Morning Star Outfitters store, the Passion Pie bakery, thrift, collectables and antique stores, numerous activities in dance, music, yoga, woodworking and other hobby interests.​
